Active Rural Hospital Grants (Non-RHTP)

• June 10–Webinar to assist applicants for:
  • The Rural Healthcare Provider Transition Project 
  • To be held at 1 p.m.
  • Participants in this program – including small rural hospitals, Critical Access Hospitals, and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS)-certified Rural Health Clinics – receive virtual and on-site technical assistance to shift from a traditional fee-for-service model focused on volume to a Value-Based Care model. 
  • Funded by FORHP and carried out by experts at the National Rural Health Resource Center, the Project accepts applications on an ongoing basis, with a cut-off of August 14 for the next cohort.

• June 30 - Activation Date for:
  • Eligible sites and facilities can activate their status to become a HRSA Pediatric Specialty Loan Repayment Program Site    
  • Outpatient facilities located in a Health Professional Shortage Area may be eligible to receive assistance from HRSA’s Bureau of Health Workforce in recruiting and retaining qualified pediatric specialty professionals. 
  • After site activation, clinicians at the facility are eligible to apply for the Pediatric Specialty Loan Repayment Program.

  • Rural Residency Planning and Development Program: Start-up funding to create new rural residency programs in qualifying medical specialties.
  • Up to 15 awards, each up to $750,000, to improve and expand access to healthcare in rural areas by developing new sustainable rural residency programs, including rural track programs.

• July 8 – Application deadline for:
  • Rural Communities Opioid Response Program: Improve communities by expanding access to recovery services.
  • $60 million for up to 80 awards. Recipients can receive up to $750,000 per year over a four-year project period.

• July 8 – Application deadline for:
  • Rural Communities Opioid Response Planning Program: Helps rural communities build the capacity to develop and sustain substance use disorder (SUD) services.
  • $4 million for up to 40 awards. Recipients can receive up to $100,000 per year over a two-year project period.
