Agenda Highlights

The meeting will feature updates on the 2020 Legislative Session and the state budget. Attendees will also hear about relevant rural initiatives from the Georgia Department of Human Services; lessons learned with CEO involvement in soliciting donations through Georgia HEART; and a presentation from the Georgia Rural Health Innovation Center and Mercer University.

Future Rural Doctors

Mercer University School of Medicine’s fourth-year medical students and Nathan Deal Scholars will also be in attendance. Recipients of the Nathan Deal scholarship have strong ties to rural Georgia, leadership qualities, community involvement, and characteristics that indicate a high likelihood of continuing to serve in rural Georgia once the scholarship’s medical service commitment has been fulfilled.

Optional Session: Rural Leadership Training Program Standard 1

(Free to GHA, Georgia Southern Hospital Leadership Training Program Participating Hospitals)

2:30 p.m.

The Georgia Rural Health Innovation Center developed the standards to meet education requirements stipulated in HB 769. Standard One (governance, liability, and accountability) is the two-hour pre-requisite standard that must be completed prior to all other training. The GHA and Georgia Southern University partnership’s curriculum has been certified by the Georgia Rural Health Innovation Center as having satisfied the training requirements found in O.C.G.A. § 31-2-16.
