State Agencies and Boards That GHA Monitors

To help our members keep up with an ever-changing regulatory environment, GHA monitors a number of state agencies and licensing boards.

GHA Councils and Committees

GHA hosts specialized councils and committees that meet periodically to share best practices, discuss current issues affecting their practice or specialty, and provide networking opportunities for members.

Meetings

The Georgia In-House Counsel Association was established to provide a forum for hospital-based (in-house) legal counsel to discuss legal issues, share ideas and network. Meetings are customarily held four (4) times each year at GHA beginning at 10:30 a.m. and concluding by 2:00 p.m. Lunch is provided and a nominal fee charged to cover costs associated with the meeting set-up and luncheon.

Crosswalk

The latest edition of the Crosswalk on Georgia Rules and Regulations for Hospitals and Medicare Conditions of Participation (CoPs) is available. The Crosswalk compares the Georgia Rules and Regulations for Hospitals with Medicare CoPs for Hospitals.  A GHA Member Username and Password are required to access the Crosswalk.

Document Retention Schedules

The latest edition of the Document Retention Schedule is available. GHA commissioned Arnall Golden Gregory LLP to update and enhance the Schedule, which was originally published in 2003 by GHA and the Georgia Academy of Healthcare Attorneys (“GAHA”). A GHA Member Username and Password are required to access the Schedule.

Georgia Hospital Law Manual

The Georgia Hospital Law Manual is prepared by the Georgia Academy of Healthcare Attorneys (GAHA) as a service to its members and the members of the Georgia Hospital Association (GHA). This 'Georgia Hospital Law Manual-Sixth Edition-Posted 2013' continues a tradition, begun in 1979, of making available to these communities a detailed analysis of legal issues affecting hospitals and health systems. The law not cited and interpretations of the law cited are the independent conclusions of the authors as matters of academic writing and are not legal advice. Nothing in this Manual is intended to answer any particular legal question. Users should continue to consult their own attorneys for advice on specific legal matters and to determine if there have been any changes in the law. A GHA Member Username and Password are required to access the Manual.

Legal Department News

The GHA Legal Department periodically sends out updates and alerts to members on regulatory and compliance matters. If you would like to be added to the distribution list for these updates, please contact Irene Gillen.
