Vision: Georgia becomes the model for eliminating preventable infections through a collaborative effort of the healthcare community.

Mission : To enhance, expand and coordinate current and future infection prevention activities in partnership with healthcare and consumer entities throughout Georgia in order to reduce and eliminate preventable healthcare associated infections and community acquired infections that impact patient outcomes.

Objective: All healthcare entities will commit to participate in the PHA TIPS program in order to focus efforts in infection prevention by culture and organizational change, as aligned with its mission, to improve the health and well being of the community they serve.

The PHA TIPS program and partners will provide leadership in the prevention infection focus through the following activities:

  • Engage healthcare facility trustees, senior and clinical leadership, physicians and all staff to commit to a culture of infection prevention for patients and providers
  • Convene partners to coordinate statewide infection prevention efforts
  • Promote alignment with national infection prevention related initiatives including measurement and reporting requirements
  • Identify and disseminate evidence-based recommendations, successful strategies and best practices including clinical practice and environmental design models.
  • Link pertinent infection prevention resources and expertise , including current literature and tools, for healthcare professionals and consumers
  • Endorse the use of standardized data and metrics to ensure valid and reliable internal and external comparisons including statewide and national benchmarks
  • Establish guiding principles for transparency of appropriate infection prevention indicators
  • Provide ongoing professional and public education including in-person meetings, webinars, written materials, correspondence and online resources.
  • Facilitate shared learning experiences and collaboratives
  • Promote the need for adequate funding for infection prevention and evidence- based practices.
