NEW Revision of the Specifications Manual for Hospital Outpatient Department Quality Measures Version 3.0a has been announced

Encounter Dates (01/01/2010 through 06/30/2010)

The Hospital Outpatient Quality Data Reporting Program (HOP QDRP)  has announced that Starting January 1, 2010, AMI and Chest Pain will be looked at as one Emergency Department measure topic when determining the sample size.  Data collection and submission procedures have not changed. Starting with your January 1, 2010 outpatient encounters forward, AMI and Chest Pain cases will be combined in order to determine if the 5 or fewer rule has been met. Data submission will be required if the AMI and Chest Pain cases combined are greater than 5 for the reporting quarter. The OPPS Data Submission reports and the Provider Participation Report (PPR) will continue to represent the ED populations as AMI and Chest Pain measure sets. Providers will continue to use the sampling methodology based on the three outpatient populations (AMI, CP, and Surgical). Also, please note that effective with January 1, 2010 encounters, submission of population and sampling values will not be edited on the combination of the measure sets.
